Responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures for patient records
• Review patient records and ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify information and resolve discrepancies
• Protect patient confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines
• Stay updated on coding regulations and changes in the healthcare industry

Skill Sets:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
• Understanding of coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or similar credential
