Optometrist Job Description

An optometrist is responsible for examining patients' eyes to diagnose and treat vision problems and eye diseases. They prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids, and may also provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct eye exams to assess patients' visual acuity and overall eye health
• Diagnose and treat visual issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
• Prescribe corrective lenses or other vision aids as needed
• Detect and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy
• Educate patients on proper eye care and hygiene practices
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive eye care
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
• Stay current on advancements in optometry and new treatment options
