Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform ultrasound exams on patients in a professional and competent manner.
• Prepare and maintain equipment for use, including cleaning and sterilizing.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
• Accurately capture and record images for interpretation by a radiologist.
• Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and answer any questions.
• Assist radiologists with image interpretation as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices in ultrasound imaging.
• Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and procedures.

Skill Sets Required:

• Completion of a formal ultrasound technology program.
• Certification by a recognized accrediting body (ARDMS, ARRT, etc.).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced medical environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in image capture and recording.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology as they relate to ultrasound imaging.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
• Commitment to continued education and professional development.
