Job Description: Medical Coder

Responsibilities:

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II code sets
• Review patient medical records for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure documentation supports the codes assigned
• Adhere to coding guidelines and compliance regulations
• Work closely with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
• Stay current on coding changes and updates

Skill Sets:

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II code sets
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred
