Responsibilities:

• Assigning appropriate medical codes to patient records for billing and insurance purposes
• Ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
• Reviewing medical documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures
• Communicating with healthcare providers to clarify information as needed
• Working with insurance companies to resolve coding issues
• Adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
• Participating in coding audits and continuing education to stay current in the field

Skill Sets:

• Proficiency in medical coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
• Understanding of healthcare billing processes and insurance requirements
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is preferred
