An optometrist is a healthcare professional who specializes in eye care, examining, diagnosing, and treating various eye conditions. They prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as provide vision therapy and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and eye health
• Diagnose and treat eye conditions such as Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism
• Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
• Provide vision therapy and rehabilitation for patients with visual deficiencies
• Educate patients on proper eye care and maintenance
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare professionals for further treatment

Skill Sets:

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
• Licensure to practice optometry in the state of employment
• Strong clinical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
• Knowledge of current practices and technology in the field of optometry
