Quantity Surveyor Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Reviewing and negotiating variations to contract agreements
• Conducting cost analysis and preparing cost reports
• Advising on procurement strategies
• Valuing completed work and arranging payments
• Providing financial updates and forecasting future costs

Skill Sets:

• Strong numerical and financial management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Proficiency in relevant software, such as MS Excel and AutoCAD
