The Second Engineer on a vessel is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room machinery and equipment. They work closely with the engineering team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Engineer in the operation of all engine room machinery and systems
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of engine room equipment
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed
• Assist in the supervision of engineering crew members
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment

Skill Sets:

The Second Engineer should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Hold a valid Second Engineer license or equivalent certification
• Strong mechanical and technical skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of vessel engine room systems and equipment
• Experience in marine engineering preferred
